World Cup-bound duo return as Eintracht training resumes
Eintracht Frankfurt began preparations for the upcoming Bundesliga game against TSG Hoffenheim with a double training session on Tuesday. Gelson Fernandes and Ante Rebic, who recently helped their countries qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, were both involved.
While the last few Eintracht players on international duty took part in matches on Tuesday, the rest of the Eagles' squad began preparations for the upcoming game away to Hoffenheim. After working up a sweat in the gym in the morning, head coach Niko Kovac put his charges through their paces for around 90 minutes in a public training session in the afternoon.
Rebic and Fernandes return
In total 20 outfield players and three goalkeepers took to the training pitch, including Lukas Hradecky and Renat Dadashov, who were involved with their respective national teams last Thursday, and Rebic and Fernandes, who respectively helped Croatia and Switzerland book their tickets to the 2018 World Cup on Sunday.
"It's a nice feeling to have qualified," said Fernandes. "It's great for the team and for the whole country. Having said that, I'm happy to be back in Frankfurt. Every training session with the team is important for me after my injury. We've got a difficult match on Saturday and we want to pick up as many points as possible before Christmas."
