Wolfsburg preview: Eagles look to stretch unbeaten run
Following another memorable evening in the UEFA Europa League, Eintracht Frankfurt will be aiming to continue their winning run in the Bundesliga against VfL Wolfsburg.
It's third versus ninth in the Bundesliga on the first Sunday of Advent as the Eagles take on the Wolves. Eintracht are on 23 points following an excellent run of six wins and one draw in their last seven league games, which they will be looking to add to against Wolfsburg, who are eight points behind them in the standings.
However, coach Adi Hütter’s side will be wary of the visitors from Lower Saxony, who have been difficult to overcome in Frankfurt in recent years. Despite not being the better team in either match, the Green-Whites have won 1-0 and 2-0 on their last two visits to the Commerzbank-Arena thanks to some solid defending and clinical finishing.
The overall head-to-head record between the two teams also favours the Wolves, who have won half of the 32 previous encounters in the Bundesliga. SGE have triumphed on six occasions, while there have been ten draws. Eintracht will be determined to improve that record on Sunday evening and register their first home win against Wolfsburg since January 2016 – and they’ll be confident of doing so given their current form. After the 4-0 victory against Marseille in the Europa League in midweek, Hütter’s men are now unbeaten in 11 games in all competitions. They also proved that negative sequences are there to be broken last weekend when they claimed their first ever away win at Augsburg.
Kick-off: Sunday 2 December 2018, 18:00 CET, Matchday 13 of the 2018/19 season
Venue: Commerzbank-Arena, Frankfurt
