On the eve of the Bundesliga match against SC Freiburg, Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Niko Kovac discusses team news and how he's approaching the game.

Niko Kovac on ...

... David Abraham and Ante Rebic, who have been sidelined recently: "David's not back training with the team yet so he's not in contention. Ante trained for the first time on Friday but it'll probably be too soon for him to be involved. He had to take antibiotics for three days. At most he might be able to make a brief cameo."

... Branimir Hrgota: "The first half of the season wasn't easy for him but he always had good moments in training and he's shown that over the last couple of weeks. He's an option for Saturday – possibly for the starting eleven but certainly from the bench."

... Omar Mascarell and Marco Fabian: "Omar is 100 per cent fit. He's so good on the ball that a lack of match practice won't be a problem. He'll probably play. If he can't manage 90 minutes then we can always take him off. Marco is desperate to play but he still needs time. We'll manage him carefully for another two or three weeks so that he's 100 per cent fit and available by the start of February at the latest."

... the squad's efforts in training: "I've praised the players for the application and the team spirit at the training camp. It's stronger than last year. I think we can be more successful on the pitch than in the second half of last season. Physically we're at a good level and we're ready to go again. We've also improved technically. We want to improve more in that area but at the end of the day the points are what count."

... the match on Saturday: "We want to go into the game with an attacking mindset and win. I know Freiburg are a tricky side to play against who made a lot of progress in the weeks before Christmas and picked up points. It'll be an interesting, intense and close match."
