Following Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat to VfL Wolfsburg, the Eintracht Frankfurt players and staff praised the visitors and admitted that the Eagles did not defend well enough at the Commerzbank-Arena.

Mijat Gacinovic: “Wolfsburg did very well and made life difficult for us. It was an intense game. We fought until the end to get a point, but it wasn’t enough unfortunately. We were a bit unlucky as well. We had a bad day, which can happen after so many good games.”

Jetro Willems: “It was a difficult game. Wolfsburg weren’t that much better, we had our chances too. We’re disappointed but the defeat doesn’t knock us off our stride. We can pick up three points again on Saturday.”

Makoto Hasebe: “We conceded unnecessary goals. We gave the ball away cheaply in the build-up and weren’t able to recover our shape at the back. That happened on more than two occasions - we conceded a lot of clear-cut chances. We need to keep working hard and need to be more solid in Berlin on Saturday. Fatigue played a role near the end but we fought well.”

Adi Hütter: “I’m obviously disappointed that we lost but I didn’t see a bad performance from my team. It was a very physical encounter overall. We were in control in the first 25 minutes and their goal came a bit against the run of play. We fought brilliantly and worked hard until the end, but we conceded too many counter-attacks because we were a bit too sloppy at times. We weren’t as sharp or as solid as we have been recently.”
