After reaching the UEFA Europa League play-off round, the Eintracht players and staff share their thoughts on Thursday’s win against Vaduz, the start of the Bundesliga season and Marco Russ’ injury.

Head coach Adi Hütter: “We did what was expected of us but couldn’t match the performance of our supporters. There was a lack of urgency today. We need to put today’s game behind us - the season begins in earnest now. Marco Russ will definitely be out for a while. His Achilles tendon injury has put a bit of a dampener on things this evening. I’m pleased that Sebastian Rode played 65 minutes. Timmy Chandler did very well on the left-hand side in the second half. Makoto Hasebe, Ante Rebic, Filip Kostic and David Abraham were rested. We’ll play a more familiar side on Sunday.”

Timothy Chandler: “We’re in good shape and want to pick up three points on Sunday. Marco Russ’ injury is very unfortunate. We’ll support him in any way we can.”

Sebastian Rode: “My knee is fine, everything felt good today. I couldn’t have imagined a better crowd for my first game back. Sunday’s game is going to be very different, partly because we’re going to field a much-changed team.”
