Board member Fredi Bobic and head coach Adi Hütter were of one voice regarding Eintracht’s improved second-half performance against Leipzig, while goalscorer Almamy Toure revealed he was simply keeping a promise.

Fredi Bobic: “It always feels good to win, but to do so against the league leaders is even more special. Leipzig were outstanding in the first half and we were happy to go into the break at 0-0. In the second period I particularly liked the way we defended our goal with passion after Almamy’s opener. It was a terrific team performance today; everyone fought for everyone else. Our second goal after a great move was obviously the cherry on top. We’re very happy today, but we need to keep working hard and then the wins will follow as a result.”

Adi Hütter: “I’m very happy with the victory, although I have to say we were clearly second best in the first half. We got into the tackles more in the second half and Almamy’s early goal knocked the wind out of Leipzig a bit. We gave it absolutely everything after that and defended really well. Our second goal was very well worked and was the icing on the cake. We made the most of our time during the winter break. I’m proud of the team, of how tactically disciplined they are and of how quickly they’ve adapted to playing with four at the back.”

Almamy Toure: “On Tuesday we were talking about me needing to score a goal and now I’ve already kept my promise! I knew I had to hit it straight away because the ball sat up perfectly and then luckily I also struck it perfectly. The win will give us confidence for the coming weeks. We knew how strong Leipzig are and that they’re very quick in transition, but we kept them under control really well in the second half.”
