Adi Hütter and Bruno Hübner in deep discussion following Thursday’s narrow defeat.

Adi Hütter (head coach): “We weren’t strong enough in the tackle in the first half and couldn’t get a foothold in the game. We were wasteful in front of goal, too. We were well-prepared but couldn’t play the way we wanted. Strasbourg proved that it won’t be an easy ride for us. Nobody believed it was going to be an easy trip. They have a strong team. We lost as a team today, not because of individuals.”

Axel Hellmann (board member): “We proved last season that we know how to handle first-leg defeats, and that we’re capable of overturning them. Strasbourg put in a physical performance in front of their passionate fans, but we’re also going to conjure up a cracking atmosphere next week.”

Bruno Hübner (sporting director): “We said before that Strasbourg are a good side and that their fans create a fantastic atmosphere for their team. If Kamada had made it 1-1, the game would have swung in our favour eventually. We need to gather our strength in order to make amends in the return leg. With our fans behind us – and building on that second-half performance – we’re capable of winning at home. Mijat Gacinovic was carrying a knock beforehand, which doesn’t make a match like this any easier.”
