Vaduz head north to Frankfurt
After suffering a heavy 5-0 defeat in the first leg in Liechtenstein, FC Vaduz will be heading up to the Commerzbank-Arena on Thursday for the return fixture in this Europa League third qualifying round tie.
Four days after making it through to the second round of the DFB Cup, Eintracht are on the verge of sealing their place in the play-off stages of the UEFA Europa League as they welcome FC Vaduz for the second leg. The trip to the Commerzbank-Arena will no doubt be a special occasion for the team from Liechtenstein, despite being a long way behind on the scoreboard. After the first leg, FCV coach Mario Frick was already looking ahead to "a real highlight and one that we’ve earned". They will also get to play in front of a capacity crowd, with all tickets having once again been snapped up.
Rotation a possibility
Vaduz lost 1-0 to FC Winterthur on Sunday which saw them fall as low as eighth place in the ten-team Challenge League. Having played against the Eagles the previous Thursday, the team were likely short on energy.
Eintracht also had a tough fixture against SV Waldhof Mannheim, and with the start of the Bundesliga season against TSG Hoffenheim just around the corner, squad rotation could well come into effect. The returning Kevin Trapp could be given another opportunity to get some much-needed playing time under his belt after Eintracht registered the keeper for the third-round squad last Wednesday.
Kick-off: Thursday 15 August, 20:30 CEST, UEFA Europa League third qualifying round (second leg).
Venue: Commerzbank-Arena, Frankfurt.
