Goncalo Paciencia and Andre Silva were both called up to the Portugal squad.

Goncalo Paciencia has more reason than most to smile this week, as the Eagles’ joint-top scorer (alongside Filip Kostic) has been rewarded for his impressive performances with a call-up to the Portugal squad together with Andre Silva.

As such, the striker could earn his second cap exactly two years after making his debut, his first outing on the international stage coming on 14 November 2017 in a 1-1 draw against the USA. Now he is in line for his maiden competitive outing if he features against Lithuania on Tuesday or against Luxembourg the following Sunday.

Should he do so, Paciencia could help deal a blow to Eintracht colleagues Mijat Gacinovic and Filip Kostic, whose Serbia side are in third place in qualifying Group B – just one point behind the reigning continental champions with two games left to play. Qualification for the European Championship is also approaching the finish line at U21 level (see overview below).

Elsewhere, Simon Falette and Guinea are battling for a place at the Africa Cup of Nations, Daichi Kamada is hoping to help edge Japan closer to the next FIFA World Cup, while two friendlies are on the agenda for Evan Ndicka and the French U20 side.
