Training camp diary: Part 5 from Sebastian Rode
Sebastian Rode looks back on an eventful Tuesday that included a move to Clearwater, a high-scoring NHL match and a shirt swap with one of the players, before setting his sights on Wednesday’s clash with Hertha Berlin.
Dear Eintracht fans,
After our final training session at the IMG Academy on Tuesday morning we travelled on to Tampa, or to Clearwater to be precise. That meant we also had to move to a different hotel. We’ll face Hertha Berlin at the nearby stadium in St. Petersburg on Wednesday evening US time.
The previous evening we were even able to go and watch a Tampa Bay Lightning NHL game. It was an unbelievable match that ended 9-2. After that we had a meet-and-greet session with Victor Hedman, who gave each of us a Tampa shirt with our name and shirt number on it. We also gave him two Eintracht jerseys and a scarf. He said it was a rare occasion for him to have played in a team that scored nine times.
We went back to the hotel after that, but it was a terrific experience. Today we want to beat Hertha, round off the USA trip on a high note and then travel back to Frankfurt on Friday.
All the best!
