Eintracht’s New Manager Niko Kovac

Berlin born Niko Kovac (15 October 1971) knows the Bundesliga after having played for Hertha BSC Berlin from 1991 to 1996, Bayer Leverkusen (1996-1999), Hamburger SV (1999-2001) and Bayern München (2001-2003). With the Bavarians Kovac won the Intercontinental Cup in 2001 as well as the Double (league title and German Cup) in 2003. At the end of his career Kovac could look back at a total of 241 Bundesliga appearances. Kovac played for the Croatian national squad from 1996 until 2009 a total of 83 matches.

Niko Kovac started his career as manager at Red Bull Salzburg’s youth team. From 2011 to 2012 he was assistant manager to Ricardo Moniz at RB’s first team. Until recently Kovac coached the Croatian national side, which he led to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Robert Kovac: Brother and Assistant Manager

Robert Kovac started his Bundesliga career at 1. FC Nürnberg in 1995 and played for Bayer Leverkusen (1996-2001), Bayern München (2001-2005). From 2005 until 2007 he made the jump to Italy to play for Juventus Turin. In 2007 he returned to Germany and played for Borussia Dortmund for two years.

Robert Kovac was assistant manager to his brother at the Croatian Under-21 squad as well as the first team.
