Four Eintracht Frankfurt players were in action for their national teams across Thursday evening and Friday morning – and all three enjoyed wins.

After narrowly missing out on the final World Cup squad in the summer and missing last month’s internationals because of injury, Mijat Gacinovic made his comeback for Serbia on Thursday evening. The 23-year-old was included in the starting line-up for their third UEFA Nations League match in Montenegro, where former Bundesliga player Mladen Krstajic’s side picked up a 2-0 win. Gacinovic played 79 minutes while his Eintracht teammate Filip Kostic watched from the bench.

Tawatha celebrates debut win

While Serbia have taken seven points from their three Nations League games, Israel and Taleb Tawatha celebrated their first victory in the new competition on Thursday. The Israelis came from behind to beat Scotland 2-1, with Tawatha starting and playing 76 minutes.

Elsewhere, Mexico were also winners in their friendly against Costa Rica overnight, although Marco Fabián did not feature. Coach Ricardo Ferretti handed starts to several newcomers in Monterrey and rested the senior players, but they still managed a deserved 3-2 success.

On Friday evening it’s the turn of Eintracht attackers Luka Jovic and Ante Rebic. Jovic is in action for the Serbia Under-21s against Austria at 18:00 CEST, while Rebic’s Croatia take on England at 20:45 CEST.
