Rönnow and Sow on track for EUROs, Joveljic nets hat-trick, captain Ndicka
Denmark cruised to a 6-0 win over Gibraltar, Switzerland beat Georgia 1-0 and two Eintracht youngsters made names for themselves.
Dejan Joveljic was on fire for Serbia’s Under-21s, scoring a hat-trick in a 6-0 win over Estonia in Nis that moves his side to within three points of the qualifying positions for the 2021 European Under-21 Championship.
Elsewhere, the France Under-20s eased to a 4-0 victory over their Turkish counterparts, and while it may only have been a friendly the fixture was still noteworthy from an Eintracht perspective, as Evan Ndicka captained the side and played a leading role in keeping a clean sheet.
Rönnow and Sow neck and neck
The senior Denmark and Switzerland teams likewise kept their opponents at arm’s length as both look to book their places at EURO 2020 with one qualifying match left to play. Denmark currently top Group D with 15 points following their 6-0 thrashing of Gibraltar, in which Frederik Rönnow was an unused substitute.
Switzerland are just one point behind, however, after their narrow 1-0 triumph over Georgia. Djibril Sow came off the bench in the 84th minute of that game for Edimilson Fernandes, cousin of Gelson Fernandes.
