For the sixth time in succession, Eintracht Frankfurt will be in the United Arab Emirates at the beginning of the year in order to continue the club's international activities.

The Bundesliga's record appearance-maker, Eintracht legend Karl-Heinz 'Charly' Körbel, and Germany's most-capped player, Lothar Matthäus, will appear together for the first time at a press conference in the Emirates Palace, an event hosted by Eintracht Frankfurt and Bundesliga International, a DFL subsidiary company. Eintracht board member Axel Hellman, 1990 FIFA World Cup winner Uwe Bein and Eintracht brand ambassador Ervin Skela will also represent the Frankfurt club in the Emirates.

"We've left a real mark in the last few years and have made valuable and long-lasting contacts in Abu Dhabi," said Hellmann, who is also a member of the DFL commission for internationalisation, one of the reasons for the latest visit to the Arabian Gulf. "From that point of view, there was never any doubt about us coming back. This year is a slightly different situation because the first team isn’t here with us. As we know, due to the very short winter break this season, the training camp took place in Alicante."

Accordingly, it is all the more important that the DFL and Frankfurt are present alongside one another in the UAE: "Abu Dhabi is one of the most important parts of the world," Hellmann said. "Of course, that means it's important for us, together with the DFL, to maintain our already-close partnership. The attendance of well-known Eintracht names such as Karl-Heinz Körbel and Uwe Bein shows the importance and value of our relationships and activities in Abu Dhabi. This market is also one of interest to the Bundesliga, as shown by the presence and role of Lothar Matthäus, in order for us to open doors with our contacts and cooperation."

Eintracht and Abu Dhabi have developed a diverse and mutually beneficial partnership on several levels in the last few years. The Bundesliga giants have worked closely with Al Maskari Holding since last year in order to assist sporting development in the UAE, while Frankfurt's winter training camp was held in Abu Dhabi between 2012 and 2017.

Körbel has already made several trips to the UAE with the Eintracht football school. This year, in cooperation with the insurance company Daman and their 'Super11' campaign, another 100 children will take part in an initiative against obesity and diabetes in young people with the Eintracht football school.

On Tuesday evening, the DFL (Bundesliga International) and Eintracht's evening reception will take place in the Emirates Palace. Prior to the event, Matthäus, Körbel, Hellmann and Robert Klein (from Bundesliga International) will take part in a press conference.
