The Euro qualifiers on Friday evening provided mostly positive outcomes for Frankfurt players, although a few ended the evening disappointed.

The good news first… And there was plenty of it in Group G, where Israel won 3-0 away to Latvia while Austria squeezed past Slovenia 1-0 at home. Taleb Tawatha was on the bench for the comfortable win in Riga as he continues to get back to fitness after an ankle injury, but Martin Hinteregger played the full 90 minutes at the Wörthersee Stadium in Klagenfurt in Austria’s 1-0 success. Israel are now on seven points, keeping them within touching distance of leaders Poland on nine, while Austria’s first three points in this campaign put them up to fourth in the group.

Denmark, meanwhile, stumbled in Group D with a 1-1 draw against Republic of Ireland – their second consecutive stalemate – with Frederik Rönnow an unused substitute in Copenhagen. Simon Falette’s Guinea side were edged out 1-0 in their friendly with Gambia.

Serbia given a hiding

It was a disappointing evening for Serbia, who went down 5-0 away to Ukraine and are now bottom of Group B on goal difference with just one point to their name. Mijat Gacinovic and Filip Kostic played the full 90 minutes, while Luka Jovic was taken off in the 72nd minute and replaced by Darko Lazovic.
