Omar Mascarell leaves Eintracht for Schalke
Midfielder Omar Mascarell has signed for Schalke 04 after two years with Eintracht Frankfurt.
Mascarell, 25, will don the colours of Eintracht’s Bundesliga rivals Schalke next season after signing a four-year contract with the Royal Blues. “We’re very disappointed that Omar is leaving us,” said sporting director Bruno Hübner. “Omar was a key member of the team that won the DFB Cup. We tried everything to keep him.”
Mascarell, who joined Eintracht from Real Madrid in the summer of 2016, registered two goals and one assist in 45 competitive appearances for the Eagles. Injuries restricted the Spaniard to just 12 outings last term, although he did play the full 90 minutes in SGE’s memorable DFB Cup final victory over Bayern Munich in May.
