Niko Kovac signed a contract today as Eintracht Frankfurt's new head coach.
The Berlin born Croatian recorded 241 Bundesliga matches for Hertha BSC Berlin, Hamburger SV, Bayer Leverkusen and FC Bayern München (winning the double in 2003). As a Croatian international player he participated in each two World Cups and EUROs.
The 44-year-old signed a contract with Eintracht running until July 2017 (Bundesliga only), his brother Robert will join him as his assistant coach. Niko Kovac started his coaching career with Red Bull Salzburg's youth team, then took over the Croatian Under-21 and in 2013 the national side of Croatia who participated in the World Cup 2014 in Brazil under his reign.
CEO Heribert Bruchhagen: "It will have to be Niko Kovac's goal to stir the team into action, to release energy in order to avoid relegation. We are convinced that he will achieve that."
