Luka Jovic nominated twice for Goal of the Year
Luka Jovic is the only player to receive two nominations in Germany’s 2018 Goal of the Year award – and he needs your support!
The Bundesliga has a new goalscorer. Eintracht’s Jovic is level with Borussia Dortmund frontman Paco Alcacer at the top of the scoring charts with 12 goals, while the 21-year-old is also in second place in the UEFA Europa League with five goals.
However, Jovic provides both quantity and quality. His stunning back-heeled strike in the DFB Cup semi-final against Schalke 04, for example, sent the Eagles through to the final in Berlin and was voted Goal of the Month.
Your vote counts
Like a true goalscorer, he followed this up. Six months later, on 19 October, Jovic wrote himself into the history books when he became the youngest player to score five goals in a Bundesliga match as Eintracht thrashed Fortuna Düsseldorf 7-1. The first of these was an artistic finish to make it 2-0, and another Goal of the Month award followed.
In short, 2018 was Jovic’s year. Now it’s down to you whether he also claims the Goal of the Year award! Voting closes at midnight on Sunday 27 January.
