The late winner, Filip Kostic’s chance just before, the foul on Sebastian Rode and the situation in the group with two games left were the talking points following Eintracht’s 2-1 defeat in Liège.

Gelson Fernandes: “If we’re not going to win then we should get a point. The goal we conceded was needless, it wasn’t good from our point of view. We want to play attacking football but we also need to learn how to defend. We have to be resolute and defend the goal – all of us, including me.”

Martin Hinteregger: “It’s a minor setback which we have to deal with. We’ll come back fighting again on Sunday. The situation with the free-kick is obvious: either penalty and yellow card or free-kick and red card.”

Adi Hütter: “Credit to Standard for their performance. It’s annoying that we didn’t make it a 2-1 win two minutes before the end and then conceded the goal with the last kick. That wasn’t deserved. The incident with Rode was a bad decision. If it’s not a red card, then it has to be a yellow card for the number 34, who was already on a yellow. It would’ve been easier for us with an extra player. The situation has certainly changed significantly. Standard are perhaps in the better position now but we have ourselves to blame for that.”
