SGE striker Sébastien Haller is feeling fit and well-prepared ahead of the Bundesliga opener at Freiburg. In an interview, he also spoke about new winger Filip Kostic.

Sébastien, how disappointed were you with the cup defeat against Ulm?
“Very disappointed, because we didn’t expect it. But who knows, perhaps it could be a good thing. I hope we show the right response at the weekend. I’m feeling positive that we’ll start the season well as we’ve worked very hard.”

There was a new arrival this week with Filip Kostic. What are your first impressions of him?
“I can’t say much yet because I’ve only played with him for five minutes so far (laughs). I know of him from last season. He always played well whenever I watched him play for Hamburger SV. Filip is a strong player who will certainly help us.”

Are you and the team ready for the start of the Bundesliga?
“I feel fit and of course we’re ready. We know how Freiburg like to play and we’ll give everything to get the season off to a good start. We just need to make better use of our chances.”

What are your targets for this season?
“It’s still a bit early to be setting targets. I’m hugely looking forward to the UEFA Europa League. For many of us, including me, European football is something completely new. That comes later, though. First of all we want to start the Bundesliga season well.”
