Eintracht Frankfurt head coach Adi Hütter and his players were pleased with the Eagles’ performance against Borussia Dortmund, despite losing 3-1 to the Yellow-Blacks on Friday evening.

Adi Hütter: “BVB won because they were clinical in front of goal. I must give my players huge credit, though, because they fought very well. We took a few more risks in the second half and got our just rewards. We were in control of the game after that. At that point I thought we could go on and win it. We didn’t give too much away and it became pretty scrappy in midfield, but BVB’s quality shone through in the end. We need to take the positives. We believed in ourselves, and our work-rate and tackle success ratio were spot on. We were tactically disciplined but need to improve our build-up play.”

Kevin Trapp: “The result is disappointing - we shouldn’t have lost by that margin. Conceding the second goal so soon after our equaliser was a real kick in the teeth. We showed today that we can play football. We need to stay brave and keep working hard, then we’ll get our rewards.”

Gelson Fernandes: “We were well organised and played very well tactically. We were just missing that little bit of power in attack. Their first goal was very unfortunate. Overall they didn’t cause us that many problems. We put pressure on them late on, but we need to do more in attack.”

Marco Fabián: “I’m happy that I was able to play from the beginning - that’s important to me. I feel good, but I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me. We were very good defensively, created chances and scored a good goal. It’s a shame we couldn’t get more from the game.”
