Eintracht travel to TSG Hoffenheim in their first league game after the winter break. The Eagles’ meetings with the Sinsheim-based club have traditionally been tight affairs.

Just 27 days after losing 2-1 to Paderborn in their last league match, Eintracht kick off the second half of the season with a trip to Kraichgau to face Hoffenheim. The SGEagles have had little time to relax over the past few weeks, with just 10 days separating their Matchday 17 defeat and the start of their winter training camp in the USA.

Training in sunny climes

While Adi Hütter’s side set up camp in Florida during the winter break, Hoffenheim headed to Marbella on the Costa del Sol to fine-tune their preparations for the rest of the 2019/20 season. TSG were beaten in both their friendlies in Spain, losing 3-2 to Feyenoord before going down 2-1 to ADO Den Haag. Eintracht’s only mid-season friendly also ended in defeat - 2-1 to Bundesliga rivals Hertha Berlin in St. Petersburg.

Hütter’s winning run

Frankfurt’s record against TSG has improved significantly since Hütter took charge in summer 2018, with the Eagles winning all three meetings under the Austrian’s tutelage. In their last 10 visits to Kraichgau, however, SGE have emerged victorious on only two occasions.

Eintracht’s trips to Hoffenheim have traditionally been close affairs. Indeed, their remarkable 4-0 win in 2012 was the only game between the two teams at the PreZero Arena to be decided by more than a one-goal margin.
