Eintracht have made Bosnian youngster Marijan Cavar their first signing of the January transfer window. The 19-year-old joins the club from HSK Zrinjski Mostar and has signed a contract until 30 June 2021. “Marijan has great potential, which he has also demonstrated at international level,” said sporting director Bruno Hübner. “We’re really happy to have signed him and believe he is a great addition for the future.”

Cavar was born in Prozor-Rama, Bosnia and has been with domestic giants Zrinjski since his childhood. After making his professional debut in May 2017, the two-footed midfielder soon became a permanent fixture in Zrinjski’s first team, who currently lie second in the league table.

Cavar didn’t take long to nail down a regular starting berth, going on to make 18 appearances and chip in with three assists. He has also had his first taste of European and international football, making two appearances in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds and earning himself regular call-ups to the Bosnia & Herzegovina Under-21 squad. He is expected to arrive in Frankfurt in February after taking part in friendlies with the senior Bosnian national team at the end of January.
