The Eintracht Frankfurt players and staff spoke of an “unbelievable feeling” after reaching the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals thanks to victory over Inter Milan.

Christian Peintinger, assistant coach:
“If you look over both games, we deserved to go through. I’m proud of the team’s great performance. We showed unbelievable passion and commitment. Every single one of them gave everything to get us into the quarter-finals. Some of the players were suffering with cramp at the end but they still covered every blade of grass. For me personally, it was an exciting experience to be able to manage the team at such a great stadium and a magnificent feeling to celebrate with the fans at the end.”

Sebastian Rode:
“It’s an unbelievably good feeling. We’re proud and pleased that we achieved it. I feel very good at the moment and the coach has faith in me, which makes it easier. At the end I had cramp in my calf and then in my abs, so I had nothing left. If we continue like this as a team, we can cause the big teams problems.”

Bruno Hübner, sporting director:

“You can only take your hat off to that performance. I’m really impressed by how the team played today and their desire to win. We’d realised in the second half of the first leg that we could hurt them, and we went into this game with precisely that confidence. Now we’re hoping to get a good draw.”
