The Eintracht Frankfurt players and staff were proud of the Eagles’ performance in Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea and remain confident of reaching the final in Baku.

Board member Fredi Bobic: “Of course you don’t want to concede a goal at home, but Chelsea are a top team. We gave our all, though - our passion and character were really impressive. Filip Kostic had a really good game. He showed all the qualities that make him the player he is. As did the rest of the players.”

Head coach Adi Hütter: “It was a really impressive result against a very good team - we gave a great account of ourselves. Chelsea’s quality was plain to see, particularly towards the end of the first half and at the beginning of the second. We put in a great performance - particularly in the early stages, when our fans once again spurred us on with their fantastic tifo. It’s clear who the favourites are for the return leg - Chelsea’s fate is in their hands - but everything’s possible and we’re confident.”

Gelson Fernandes: “We showed that we can hold our own. Everything’s still up in the air. Chelsea made some really good substitutions. They were our toughest opponents of the season. We tried everything and it’s a shame we conceded the goal so late in the first half. The tifo was exceptional. I’m proud of our fans.”
