Eintracht Frankfurt to visit China for post-season tour
Subject to their potential involvement in the UEFA Europa League final, Eintracht will tour China from 22 to 27 May.
Eintracht Frankfurt will finish off their season with a trip to Foshan and Hong Kong, unless they reach the final of the Europa League. Adi Hütter and his squad are due to tour China from 22 to 27 May, during which they’ll play a friendly against VfL Wolfsburg.
The first stop on the tour will be Foshan, where as well as an open training session, the Eagles will take on their Bundesliga rivals from Lower Saxony at the Century Lotus Stadium in a match being organised with the support of agency Match IQ. Eintracht, in their role as both an internationally-minded club and an ambassador for the Bundesliga, will then head to the region of Hong Kong.
Eintracht Frankfurt board member Fredi Bobic said: “The DFL is doing a lot to raise the profile of the Bundesliga in China. All the clubs benefit from that, and we see it as our job to support that undertaking with our presence. We will celebrate the end of the season with our team in Hong Kong.”
Fellow board member Axel Hellmann added: “China is an important target market for us. Our first team’s post-season tour in China fully aligns with the DFL’s internationalisation strategy, which we happily and actively support.”
‘Challenger Tour China 2019’
‘Challenger Tour China 2019’ is not only the title of the DFL tour but also the central theme of the visit, with Eintracht Frankfurt and VfL Wolfsburg – two sides competing directly for the European places in the Bundesliga this season – going head to head in Foshan. The two clubs will also take part in various cultural and sporting challenges off the pitch in the build-up to the game.
