Djibril Sow nominated for September’s Rookie of the Month award
After returning from injury last month, summer signing Djibril Sow has been shortlisted for the Rookie of the Month award following a string of impressive performances for the Eagles.
The Eintracht midfielder’s magnificent form in September has not gone unnoticed by the selection committee, who have also nominated FC Schalke 04 defender Jonjoe Kenny and Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram for the award.
Switzerland international Sow, who ruptured a tendon in his knee at the start of pre-season, has been unplayable in recent weeks. Deployed either as part of a two-man defensive midfield or in attacking midfield, the 22-year-old has completed the full 90 minutes in each of his last five appearances for Adi Hütter’s side. The Eintracht number eight often drifts out to the wing, registering two assists from wide positions and another from a corner. He has completed 86 per cent of his 150 passes in the Bundesliga, while winning almost 55 per cent of his attempted tackles.
Now’s your chance to have your say! Fans’ votes carry the most weight, accounting for 40 per cent of the overall poll. A panel of Bundesliga experts (30 per cent) and representatives of each of the 18 top-flight clubs (30 per cent) are also involved in selecting the winner.
The vote runs until 23:59 CEST on Thursday 10 October.
