As they return from the international break, the Eagles will be looking to repeat their 3-1 victory at Augsburg last season. The key to victory could well be their new frontline.

‘Portugal Connection’ together for the first time

The transfer window has finally shut with Bundesliga squads now set in stone. And for Eintracht Frankfurt, this means a new-look attack. Only Goncalo Paciencia remains from last season’s powerful forward line and he has already shown in the opening weeks that he is relishing being in the spotlight a little more. The number 39 is currently the team’s top scorer with five goals as well as two assists from 10 matches.

Along with young Serbian talent Dejan Joveljic, the club have acquired two big names up front in the shape of Bas Dost and André Silva. That pair will be expected to contribute immediately, and that is exactly what the influential Dost did against Düsseldorf, changing the course of the game as soon as he came off the bench.

As well as now plying their trade for Eintracht, the three strikers have something else in common, namely the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Paciencia and Silva even appeared alongside one another at FC Porto, while Dutchman Dost spent three successful years with Sporting CP, finishing as the league’s top scorer in 2016/17 with 34 goals. How many of the new ‘Portugal Connection’ Adi Hütter will unleash in the starting line-up at Augsburg on Saturday remains to be seen, but he has plenty of exciting combinations to choose from.

Frankfurt recorded a 3-1 win in Bavaria last season and Hütter’s men will be looking to pick up another three points on their travels at FCA on Saturday.
