Ante Rebic's contract at the club has been extended until 2021 as a result of his appearance against 1. FC Heidenheim in Wednesday's DFB Cup last-16 tie.

After returning to Eintracht Frankfurt from Fiorentina this summer for a second loan spell, Rebic's appearance in the starting line-up for the victory against Heidenheim meant that he has made the requisite number of outings in an Eintracht shirt for his ownership rights to be automatically transferred to the Bundesliga club as of 1 July 2018.

On that date, the opening of the summer transfer window, the Croatia international's contract will automatically be extended until 30 June 2021.

Fredi Bobic, board member, said: "We're absolutely delighted to see how well Ante is playing at the moment. We've always said that we really like him as a player. He's got a lot of potential and we're very pleased that he's going to continue his development with us for a few more years. Ante will certainly form an important part of the team looking ahead to the future."

For his part, Rebic, who has scored four goals and registered one assist so far this season, was also delighted: "I'm really happy that I'll be staying at Eintracht and in Frankfurt. I felt really happy here last season and I'm pleased the club placed their trust in me again this term. I want to repay that faith and continue giving my all to help the team be successful."
