The result of Eintracht’s friendly against Chemie Leipzig on Friday was of secondary importance, but the Eagles nevertheless put in a pleasing performance to win 5-1.

A friendly for a charitable cause

Friday’s friendly between the UEFA Europa League participants and the recently promoted fourth-tier club was much more than just a stop-gap during the international break. The proceeds from the encounter will be donated to the charity “Flutlicht für Leutzsch” (“Floodlights for Leutzsch”), which is aimed at securing the future of high-level football at the Leipzig club’s Aldred-Kunze-Sportpark.

As expected, Adi Hütter’s side ended up comfortable 5-1 winners, with new signing André Silva scoring a brace. To cap off an enjoyable evening of football in Frankfurt, Eintracht donated €100,000 towards the project during the half-time interval.
