The first days of the new year continue to be quite eventful. After Eintracht came second in the indoor tournament “Frankfurtcup 2014”, a new midfielder joined the team and the second test match during the winter break has been arranged. Read our news update!

Eintracht Frankfurt was able to celebrate a successful start into the new year! At the Fraport Arena, the Eagles came in second place in Frankfurtcup 2014, a one-day indoor tournament comprising six teams. Eintracht won the first group match against SC Paderborn (2-1) before having to admit defeat against Kickers Offenbach (1-3). In the semi-final, Eintracht beat SV Wehen Wiesbaden (2-1). Unfortunately, the Eagles did not succeed in the final against Greuther Fürth (2-4). However, Eintracht midfielder Stephan Schröck was awarded player of the tournament. Congrats!
After having signed defender Alexander Madlung, Eintracht presented a second new signing during the winter break. Tobias Weis, who played one match for the German national team in 2009, joined Eintracht on loan until the end of the season. The 28-year-old midfielder appeared in 94 Bundesliga games since 2007 for 1899 Hoffenheim. Before, he played for the reserve team of VfB Stuttgart. During that time, Eintracht manager Armin Veh was the coach of Stuttgart's first team.
Meanwhile, Eintracht midfielder Marvin Bakalorz joined second division club SC Paderborn on loan until the end of the season to gain match time.
An opponent for the second test match during the winter training camp in Abu Dhabi has been found. After a friendly against fellow Bundesliga side Schalke 04 at Al Nahyan Stadium on 11 January 2014 (kick-off at 16.00h local time (13.00 CET)), Eintracht will meet the Ukrainian champion Shakhtar Donetsk on 16 January. The kick-off will be at 17.00h local time (14.00 CET).
