SGE win 3-0 as Haller repeats wonder goal
Eintracht Frankfurt beat fifth-tier side TSV Lehnerz 3-0 in a friendly in Fulda on Friday.
SGE travelled to Fulda on Friday evening for a friendly against TSV Lehnerz. The Eagles were missing their international players as well as Jonathan de Guzman through illness for the game against the current leaders of the Hessenliga.
Eintracht denied by resolute defence
The hosts had the better chances early on, with Jan Zimmermann tipping Marcel Trägler’s long-distance shot onto the post in the 12th minute. At the other end, Danny Blum, Daichi Kamada and Branimir Hrgota all had good opportunities for Eintracht but luck was simply not on their side in front of goal, and so the teams went into the half-time break with the score level at 0-0.
Kamada from close range, Haller repeats trick
It was a similar story after the interval, with Niko Kovac’s side controlling the game. In the 66th minute their dominance paid off when Kamada slotted home after a fine through ball from Max Besuschkow.
A few minutes later, Sébastien Haller provided the highlight of the day. The Frenchman’s scissor kick into the top right corner was almost a carbon copy of the stunning goal he scored against Stuttgart last weekend. Hrgota then wrapped up the win in the 81st minute, sealing a 3-0 victory for the Bundesliga side.
Sébastien Haller: “My goal wasn’t as important as my last one, but it was nice to score like that again. The execution was maybe even a little better this time, but you always need a bit of luck on your side. I always try to play as well as I can and help the team by scoring goals, no matter how I score them.”
Niko Kovac: “The opposition were very organised today and played really well. It was difficult for us to find a way through and we needed to be patient on the ball in order to create chances. It’s always difficult to find a solution when your opponents are defensively organised, whether you’re a team from the Hessenliga or the Bundesliga. Gaps eventually start to appear as the game wears on, though, and we managed to exploit them today. Danny Blum and Max Besuschkow made their comebacks and still need time to return to full fitness, but it’s great that they were able to get more minutes under their belts today. For a friendly it was a decent performance from us.”
Eintracht line-up: Zimmermann (Bätge, 46') – Willems, Russ (Abraham, 74'), Falette (Knothe, 74'), Wolf (Chandler, 67') – Tawatha, Besuschkow, Medojevic (Boateng, 60'), Kamada – Hrgota, Blum (Haller, 60').
1-0 Kamada (66')
2-0 Haller (73')
3-0 Hrgota (81')
