SGE ahead of their friendly against Columbus Crew
Eintracht travel to the Midwest for their third test of the US training camp. On Monday evening the Eagles meet Columbus Crew SC, an MLS founding member.
Columbus, the capital and largest city of Ohio, is Eintracht’s final stop of the US training camp. With a population of 800,000 Columbus has a lot to offer. If you are an American (!) football fan, you can hop by Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh or Cincinnati, which are all just few hours away by car. Columbus’s football club, Columbus Crew SC, was one of the ten founding members of MLS. The “Black & Gold” won the league title in 2008 and Columbus's home, the “MAPFRE Stadium”, is the first stadium in the US exclusively hosting football matches.

Columbus Crew SC – The Team
Columbus Crew has several players on their roster, who played in Europe before. 26-year-old Jonathan Mensah has been on the field for the Ghanaian national team 56 times and played in France (FC Evian), Spain (Granada), Russia (Anzhi) and South Africa (Free State Stars) before joining Crew SC. Jonathan Abu is next to Mensah in Crew SC's defense. Some Eintracht supporters might remember Abu, who came from Manchester City and trained with the Eagles for a while before transferring to Norway on loan.
Speaking of Norway, the Norwegian striker Ola Kamara joined Crew SC last year and scored 16 goals in his first MLS season. This season he has already scored nine times and made five assists. On Monday the fans at the MAPFRE Stadium will also find a prominent name in the hosts line-up. Federico Higuain, who is the brother of the Argentinian superstar Gonzalo Higuain, has been with Crew SC since 2012 and has scored 50 goals in 150 games. Not that bad either!
