Sebastien Haller nominated for Bundesliga Rookie Award
Sebastien Haller has been nominated for September’s "Bundesliga Rookie Award by TAG Heuer" which recognises the best young talent in the Bundesliga.
The Frenchman, 23, has caught the eye this season, not least because of his stunning injury-time goal in the 2-1 win against VfB Stuttgart on Matchday 7. The powerful striker, who joined Eintracht in the summer from FC Utrecht, has already shown that he is a real asset for the Eagles and has been rewarded for his impressive performances by being named as one of three nominees for the "Bundesliga Rookie Award by TAG Heuer" for September. Voting is open on www.rookie-award.com until next Tuesday at 08:30CEST.
The other nominees are Dan-Axel Zagadou from Borussia Dortmund and Jean-Kevin Augustin from RB Leipzig. Following its successful debut last season, Europe’s top league with the youngest average age is again awarding its top junior stars the “Bundesliga Rookie Award by TAG Heuer” in the 2017/18 season.
In selecting the winners, DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga and official Bundesliga partner TAG Heuer will now be supported by Lothar Matthäus. The Bundesliga legend, seven-time German champion and captain of the 1990 World Cup team will be nominating his monthly “Top 3” from five candidates from different clubs selected on the basis of official match data (including goals, assists, tackling rate). The fans will then vote for their favourite out of the trio chosen by Matthäus at www.rookie-award.com, a website designed for this purpose.
At the end of the season, the “Rookie of the Season” will be chosen from all the monthly winners. In this first monthly contest of the season, it’s about the “September Rookie”.
In order to qualify for the voting, nominees must be no older than 23 at the start of the season and must not have previously taken part in any Bundesliga match. A player who has already been named “Rookie of the month” cannot be nominated a second time.
