Hannover are yet to concede a goal at home while SGE are the third best away team this season - this makes for an interesting encounter. Check out the preview.

Hannover 96 - Eintracht Frankfurt

  • Kick-off: Saturday (14 October 2017), 15.30 CET
  • Venue: HDI Arena, Hannover
  • Referee: Bastian Dankert (66 Bundesliga games, 46 Bundesliga 2 games)

Build-Up

The Eagles went into the international break with a last-minute winner against VfB Stuttgart (final score 2-1) two weeks ago. Sebastien Haller scored after 90+4 minutes with a goal of the month contender. After that various players were on tour with their respective national sides, for example Mijat Gacinovic and Serbia qualified for the World Cup in Russia next year.

Both Hannover (4) and Eintracht (6) have conceded few goals so far (only topped by Dortmund with 2), H96 even had clean sheet only at home. SGE rank eigth in the standings on 10 points, Hannover impressively are in spot five on 12. Eintracht won the DFB Cup round of the last 16 in February last season 2-1 in Hannover; also the last Bundesliga meeting at HDI Arena was a 2-1 win for SGE due to a Stendera brace. The Eagles are the third best away team in 2017/18 with seven points won on tour (W2 D1 L1).

Newly promoted Hannover impressed this campaign with wins over Mainz, Schalke and Hamburg. Former Eintracht skipper Pirmin Schwegler (101 league matches in five years for SGE) is a regular in 96's midfield, also Marvin Bakalorz had a spell at SGE in the past. Marius Wolf used to play for 96 between 2016 and 2017 but is now one of Eintracht's promising talents.

Last but not least it's a meeting of two Sporting Directors with the clubs they used to play for: Eintracht's board member Fredi Bobic scored 14 goals in 27 Bundesliga matches for 96; Hannover's Horst Heldt featured in 64 league games for SGE (9 goals).

Attendance

3,300 Eintracht supporters will make the trip to Hannover; HDI Arena has a 49,000 capacity.
